One Last Christmas Posting

These were the gifts I made for our neighbors.  Super sparkly in real life, not so much in the pictures.  ;( 

 

 

I bought paint cans, filled them with candy and decorated them with a belly band and a to/from tag on the side... that I failed to get a picture of.  I was in a bit of a hurry! All eight of them got delivered before the 24th - it was almost a Christmas miracle! *Ü*

 

My favorite part was the knob I drilled into the lid.

Mini Pocket Book Christmas

Once again I made my mom a gift card book for Christmas.  I'm safe, she will never see this!  She is the hardest person to buy for - EVER!  I made her one last year and this was the first Stampin' Up! thing I've made that she actually kept.  I'm sure if you have been reading my blog long enough, you are well aware that I have a SU! non-appreciating mom. *Ü*

Christmas Chalkboard Cards

I love this chalkboard art we are seeing everywhere.  It brings me right back to my elementary school where Mrs. Sunderland used to leave little doodles on the well-worn boards that never quite came clean after erasing.  And it perfectly feeds into my love for school supplies...don't tell me you aren't obsessed with them too!

 

I've been wanting to try it for a while now with real stamps and ink, not My Digital Studio and finally made the time to do it.

 

 

It isn't perfect, it still needs perfecting but it was SO fun!!

The first step is remembering to use your embossing buddy on the black cardstock so you don't get all these little splatters. *Ü*

 

I started with all the Christmas words I thought would fit on a card front.  I stamped each one in Whisper White ink and embossed with white embossing powder right after each one - so they didn't get too dry.

 

When everything is embossed, I used an old wash cloth (or a soft towel) to pick up a little ink right off the ink pad and rub gently into the cardstock where there logically could be an eraser mark - which really could be anywhere, so you can't mess it up too bad. 

 

After that, fill in, line the edges or doodle with a white colored pencil (regular school supplies, nothing fancy).  Actually you can do the pencil part before or after the chalkboard technique.  It works both ways.

Painted Christmas Jars

Aren't these fun?  I painted cheap-o glass jars with spray paint then decorated them for Christmas.

 

 

 The camera angle makes the jingle bells look ginormous, but they really aren't. 

1. Spray with Rust-oleum Painter's Touch Ultra Cover 2X.  This color is Colonial Red Satin.  Only takes one coat!
2. Decorate - I glued jute around the rim, made a rolled rose from burlap, cut apart a Christmas branch and bought the bells at Target.
3. Fill with candy and give away!

Snowman Tealights Get Married!

Two posts in one day folks, but guess what? 

Remember when I posted these snowman tea lights?

 

 

The web editor for Bridal Guide noticed these on my blog and asked if she could use them in an upcoming issue. 

 

Here is what she said,  "I'd love to feature this in an online slide show about ways to reuse wedding items as holiday decor (the tea lights being the reused item!). Please let me know if it'd be okay to use your image and link back to your site for the directions."
