Channel 7 Spotlight on Community Education

The day before I left for Leadership in Orlando, I was asked to join Carla Senteno with Boise Community Education for a spotlight on Community Ed on live TV...ya, LIVE!

Waiting in the lobby to be called back.  They still had their Christmas tree up and it was all decorated in NBC peacock theme - so cool!  See Katie Couric over there in the corner? *Ü*

e

Scott Evans, Carla Senteno and me.

Carla is the director of Boise Community Education and she was doing a spotlight story on the upcoming winter session of classes.  I'm teaching three classes this session, Basic Stamping Techniques, DIY Party Favors and Springtime Card & Purse and was asked to bring the Party Favor projects to show and talk about.

Oh Hello Flower Trim Doilies

I always put a little something in the bag for my stamp club girls and you probably know by now I love the new Doilies...so here's what I did for this month.

I really love that you can color this 5/8" flower Trim with ink.  You can saturate them in ink and water or you can just color the surface with a Sponge Dauber.
Very pretty, don't you think?

Leadership in Orlando, Florida

What a fantastic week I had in Orlando for Stampin' Up!'s Leadership Conference.  So many, many great things to share and exciting announcements.  This is going to be a fabulous year for sure!! In deciding what to share, I have decided to put off the announcements for a couple days while some of the kinks get worked out and talk about a very special experience.

I was asked to present in the Social Media class on blogging.  It's one thing to blog - but to talk about it to your peers is another thing.   SCARY!  After months of preparation it was kind of surreal to be actually doing it last week.

Would you like a little behind the scenes look?

Literally!

It's super dark and very professional looking behind the stage.  Those awesome people were busy making preparations and getting ready.  I'm getting my microphone on for the rehearsal. They clip it on the back of your pants, slide it up your shirt and hang it over your ear just in case you really want to know. *Ü*

Getting instructions on where to stand, where to look, how to control the slides and script, and oh, by the way, don't be nervous.  Right!!
Thank goodness for rehearsals!

Taking a bow - I made it through rehearsal!

Andrea Withers the Demonstrator Training Coordinator we worked with for the Social Media Class.  What a doll - we had SO much fun!

I will hopefully have a photo of the live presentations soon to show you.

The Social Media presenters ...
Diane Dimich - Face Book
Catherine Pooler - You Tube
Becky Roberts - Blogging
Andrea Withers - the boss of it all!

What an amazing experience that was.  Thank you Stampin' Up!, that was quite an honor to be asked and trusted to present to your leaders.

Leadership Team Gifts

Maybe you've noticed I'm in love with the new chalkboard style stuff!  See HERE and HERE.

I thought with the combination of the Stampin' Up! rulers I purchased a couple of years ago at convention and the new You Rule stamp set, these would make fun gifts.

I made a slider for the rulers, decorated it chalkboard style and added the crown!

I also made matching 3 x 3 cards and envelopes and packaged them in medium cello bags with doily and chalkboard toppers.
Then I put them all together in our large gusseted cello bags and tied them with the new beautiful 1-1/4" Two Toned Ribbon in Basic Gray/Basic Black...and forget to take a final photo!

Valentine Doily Pouches

I was so excited when I saw Doilies in the Spring Catalog.  I knew instantly what I would use them for!

Stamp on the doily.  Put two doilies together back to back.  Stitch them up with Cherry Cobbler Baker's Twine leaving just enough room to fill them with M&M's, continue stitching and tie in a bow.

Sponge with a little Read Red ink. Stamp set is Delightful Dozen and a heart from the Red Glimmer paper.

Dress Up! Window Cards

Two more projects from this months stamp clubs.

Love, love, love the new Dress Up Framelits in the Spring Catalog. This card was made using the new Oval Framelits also and a piece of Window Sheet.

Cardstock:  Real Red, Pool Party, Basic Black
Stamp Set:  All Dressed Up.
Accessories:  Dress Up Framelits, Oval Framelits, Polka Dot Embossing Folder, Big Shot, Pearls, Pool Party Ribbon, 5/8" Flower Trim

And the last project was a little box holding two Peppermint candies.  The stamped peppermint and words are from Sweets For The Sweet and I wrapped it up in one of our cello bags cut open and laid flat and tied with Very Vanilla 1/8" ribbon.

Be My Valentine Fabric Flower

This is one of the cards my stamp clubs made last week featuring the new More Amore Designer Fabric.  It was so quick and easy - hardest part was peeling the Sticky Strip!

Cardstock:  Pool Party, Very Vanilla, More Amore Designer Series paper
Stamp Set:  Delightful Dozen
Accessories:  Honeycomb Embossing Folder, Big Shot, Wide Oval Punch, 1-3/4" Circle Punch, 2-3/8" Scallop Punch,  More Amore Fabric, Sticky Strip

Close up of the flower.

To make the flower, cut fabric about 2" x 8" long.

Lay the Sticky Strip along one long edge on the inside of the fabric.  Peel the Sticky Strip backing and fold the fabric over.

Lay another piece of Sticky Strip along the same edge, just on top of the fabric this time as shown in the photo.

Make cuts about 1/4" apart in the fabric from the folded edge to the Sticky Strip line.

Peel the Sticky Strip off and start rolling the fabric along the sticky side.

Once it is completely rolled up fluff the flower petals.

Attach to the card with Mini Glue Dots.

All Dressed Up!

Oh my goodness I love this new set!  It reminds me of paper dolls when I was a child.

These were for the Spring Catalog swap with my team.  I can't wait to get all their creations!

This stamp set has matching Framelits that make dressing the form so easy and FUN. I actually just used the Framelits on this card, no stamping at all! Isn't the skirt cute?  It is made with the new Paper Doilies.

Here is how I folded it.  Fold one side almost in half, leave a little center showing on the doily.  Then fold the top down into a triangle.  After I folded them, I inked them with Crumb Cake ink and a stampin' sponge.

Hearts A Flutter Chalkboard

Do you remember when I made the Chalkboard Christmas cards?
I love that technique so much I decided to do it again.

This time for the Control Freaks new Spring Catalog swap.

So much fun!  Do you want me to remind you how to do it?
Give it a try, its easy!
1. Stamp the image in Whisper White ink and emboss with white embossing powder.
2. Use a soft washcloth or rag to pick up a little ink from the pad and gently rub the cardstock where you would naturally see eraser marks.
3. Use a white colored pencil to draw the border, add shadowing or some fun doodling to the chalkboard.
