Build A Birthday Word Cake

Swapping is a big part of our Inking Idaho on the Road event.  I love to see customers using their supplies, making cards and swapping with each other and demonstrators!  They love it too and it's fun to watch their excitement.

This was my swap card for the event.  I seriously love the Build a Birthday stamp set and have used the pedestal base for stacking all kinds of things.  This time, I used a couple of word stamp sets and a heart on top.

Here is a little behind the scenes look.  I made a lot of them but ultimately decided to photograph a few. *Ü*

My Succulent Jar

I always have a gift for our presenters at Inking Idaho on the Road and this was my attempt at a succulent garden for one of them.
I remember a long time ago one of the Artisan Award winners posted a tutorial on the Stampin' Up! blog about how to do this and I always kind of kept that in the back of my mind.  I decided to give it a try and add a little banner on top.  I kinda think the banner is my favorite part. *Ü*

I started by painting and sanding lightly a Ball canning jar.  All the plants are glued to the inside lid piece not the outside when you unscrew it...see how much I know about my canning jar anatomy!

I used punches and framelits to create the pieces and didn't stamp on any of them.  I used a nail to create a hole for the two Wilton sucker sticks to be glued in for the banner.

I used the pointy flower from the Flower Fair Framelits, the leaves and the roundish flower are from the Bigz Bouquet Die and the rest are the Fun Flowers and Petite Petals punches.

I put it in a basket with a carved book for her 'C' so it was all kind of greenish in theme....hope she likes green!  LOL!!

Edited to Ad:  I found the tutorial, it was clear back on July 20th of last year on the SU! blog.

Inking Idaho on the Road Easter Projects

This weekend we got a sneak peek of some adorable Easter projects that Stampin' Up! was releasing the following week.
A gusseted bag made from a flat glassine bag and bag made from a card - both from the You're So Lovely Project Kit.  And an adorable mini Berry Basket modified using the Berry Basket die.

This bag is made from one of the cards in the You're So Lovely Project Kit.  Click on the photo below to enlarge it for the measurements. The embellishments are from the kit as well, except the flower and that is from the Birthday Bouquet Designer Series Paper.

Another version of a bag made from a card.

This precious little basket is  one that was made by Stampin' Up! and is a mini modified version of the Berry Basket.  In the photo below, you can see the size compared to my hand.

To make the Berry Basket, you need two die cuts. This one is made from just one die cut and then cut and modified as shown. Click on the pattern to make it bigger.

After the event, my BFF, Kim and I were playing in the paper and discovered that you can make a mini-mini Berry Basket too.  The directions are exactly the same as above, you just trim 3/4" off the height before you assemble it.

Pretty adorable, huh?

Here is a photo with my adhesive beside it so you can see the scale.  it's only about 1-3/4" x 1-3/4" x 1-3/4".

Inking Idaho on the Road Saturday Projects

Our Inking Idaho on the Road event was a great success! We had so much fun. Thank you to everyone who attended; we had guests from California, Utah, Washington, Oregon, Colorado, Arizona as well as Idaho - how cool is that?!

We made two precious little suitcases.  The top suitcase has a divided compartment and holds two 3 x 3 cards and envelopes and a little chocolate treat. The bottom suitcase holds regular size cards and had 2 clear envelopes.

My downline in the Seattle area, Carla Blake held her event the weekend before ours and we all made the same projects.  That was fun to do the same projects in two locations at about the same time.

Pinwheel Card

3 x 3 size Pocket Cards
Sorry, but the directions will not be released as a tutorial. This was for attendees only.
